Cleaning Up The Port and Keeping Us Moving
Bob Edwards brings two decades of experience leading the fight for a cleaner Port and healthier environment. He’s voted to put nearly $20 million into Puget Sound cleanup efforts, won meaningful reductions in diesel air emissions from ships and switched container handling equipment to biodiesel.
Under his watch, over 30,000 new Port related jobs have been created. As a member of the Port’s Audit Committee, Bob pushed for a review of Port projects in 2006 to reduce wasteful spending and institute performance benchmarks in all divisions.
Bob voted for funding to extend light rail all the way to Sea-Tac airport when it was stuck one mile short. His work to create peace with airport neighbors means that airplanes will be landing on the 3rd Runway next year, making it easier for Puget Sound businesses to sell their goods all around the world.
Commuters have been able to count on Bob to work with our region’s leaders to come up with solutions to some of our worst traffic chokepoints. As a member of the I-405 and Hwy 520 Advisory Boards, he’s helped come up with solutions that will ease congestion. He opposed giving $200 million Port tax dollars to Seattle’s shrunken waterfront tunnel because it jeopardized our maritime economy.
Please join County Executive Ron Sims, State Senator Ed Murray, County Council Chair Larry Gossett, Bellevue Mayor Grant Degginger, Kent Mayor Suzette Cooke and the mayors of Renton, Kent, Sea Tac, Federal Way, Tukwila and Shoreline in supporting Bob Edwards.
